Presentation of the book “The Ecology of Law. Toward a Legal System in Tune with Nature and Community”, 12the December 2017, Naples
On December 12, the book “The Ecology of Law. Toward a Legal System in Tune with Nature and Community” – winner of the 2015 IBPA Benjamin Franklin award and written by Fritjof Capra (director and founder of the Berkeley Ecolysis Center) and Ugo Mattei (Professor of International and Comparative Law at Hastings College of the Law of the University of California and civil law at the University of Turin), will be presented at Department of Law of University of Naples “Federico II”.
The volume reflects the fascinating parallel history of law and science and shows how the two disciplines have always influenced each other up to recent times. Currently, however, the two paths seem to have moved away, as the law is trapped in the old mechanistic paradigm, where science looks at the world as a system, a vast network of fluid communities, whose dynamic interactions are being studied. The ecology concept exemplifies this approach.
To discuss, besides eminent personalities of the Academy, there will also be the author, Ugo Mattei.
